Who is Sid?

I mean, who is this guy anyway?

 PROUD EQUITY MEMBER SINCE 2010
ELECTED TO THE NATIONAL COUNCIL IN 2015
A LEADER IN service AND ENGAGEMENT

AS AN ACTOR

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sid Solomon received his training at New York's LaGuardia Arts High School and the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program. He spent 9 years living and working in Minneapolis/St. Paul, becoming an EMC in 2006 as an Apprentice at the Children's Theatre Company. In 2010, he joined Actors' Equity when he signed a contract with The Acting Company, and moved back home to New York shortly thereafter.

Sid has worked with The Acting Company, New York Classical Theatre, Classic Stage Company, the LCT Directors Lab, the Guthrie Theater, Virginia Stage, Bay Street Theater, Riverside Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, Northern Stage, Florida Rep, Orlando Shakespeare, Theatre Raleigh, Mill Mountain Theatre, Florida Stage, Georgia Shakespeare, Minneapolis' Children's Theatre Company, and Mixed Blood Theatre, among many others. His is an 11-time deputy, and has worked under LORT, LOA-LORT, Guest Artist, Special Appearance and Transition Agreements, as well as the New York City Showcase Code and Stage Reading Guidelines.

AS A COUNCILOR

Sid was elected to Equity's National Council in 2015 as an Eastern Principal Councilor. In addition to the National Council and Eastern Regional Board, he serves as a member of 16 Equity committees and working groups in total, making his committee service virtually unparalleled in the Eastern Region.

Since his election, Sid has dedicated himself to member engagement, as he firmly believes that Equity’s Councilors should play a visible and active role in the day-to-day lives of its members. He has therefore committed himself to being the most accessible member of the Council. He's made himself easy to find - via email, on Facebook, Twitter, Audition Update, in an EPA line - and he'll always get back to you. Just look for #SIDforAEA.

Sid is a founding member of
#AEAunder40, an unofficial group dedicated to engaging Equity's youngest members, as well as the founder and creator of #10KforAEA, a Get Out The Vote campaign which helped increase participation in Equity's 2016 Council Elections by more than 16%. He is also a Core Member of #FairWageOnstage, a grassroots movement of Actors' Equity members separate from - but working alongside and in support of - Actors' Equity to fight for higher wages and stronger contracts.

Sid lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife, Gretchen, and their dachshund, Gigi. He is a die-hard fan of University of Minnesota athletics, a marathon and half-marathon running enthusiast, and can solve a Rubik's Cube in about a minute. (But he's trying to get faster.)
